CJ Talerico ’24

Varsity Swim Captain majoring in Media and Communications and double-minoring in Business and Film Studies. The first comic book I ever read was a Batman: Hush trade paperback that a substitute teacher had brought to school when I was in fifth grade– and I’ve been reading and collecting comics ever since! I even host my own comic book podcast: Behind The Page, where I interview famous creators in the industry and give retrospectives on my favorite comics and comic-related media.

Briana Yumbe ’24

Drew African Student Association Vice President majoring in Marketing and Psychology and minoring in Media and Communications. As an avid fiction book reader, I have long been interested in textual storytelling- the first book that sprung this strong interest is Purple Hibiscus by Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I am currently exploring visual storytelling as it pertains to comic books. The Drew University archives are a great place to start and I am thrilled I have the opportunity to create a clear and concise digital archive of the comics my campus has to offer!

Yan Zheng Lew ’23

Also a member of the swim team and double majoring in Physics and Computer Science. I had never been exposed to the world of comics until I got to the US but it has been a fun journey the past year since picking up my first comic book. Now I enjoy weekly trips to our local comic book store to pick up new comics.
